Ten free licenses. A worthy mission. A platform used by large organizations.
It sounds like the expensive part is over.
Usually, you have only finished reading the first line of the bill.
Start with the facts, not the sales pitch
Salesforce’s Power of Us program offers eligible organizations ten donated Enterprise Edition licenses and discounts on additional licenses, products, and services. Its April 27, 2026 guidance lists Agentforce Nonprofit and Sales and Service bundles.1
That is a real benefit. It is not the same as a complete, configured, maintained nonprofit system at no cost.
Someone still has to design the records, import the data, train the team, manage permissions, and keep the integrations working.
Your eleventh teammate is not automatically a penalty. But growing beyond a donation can change your budget. Get the actual quote before you build the next three years around an assumption.
NPSP has not lost support
This matters enough to say plainly.
Salesforce says the Nonprofit Success Pack remains fully supported. It calls the end of direct feature development “End of Innovation.” It also says existing NPSP organizations are not required to migrate to Agentforce Nonprofit until they are ready.1
Support, product development, and migration pressure are different questions. Mixing them together makes a punchier accusation and a worse decision.
You do not need an inaccurate claim to ask whether the platform still fits your organization.
Three changes worth remembering
Salesforce moved the Power of Us Hub into the broader Trailblazer Community in November 2021.2
Microsoft ended the donated Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1 offers at renewals on or after July 1, 2025, while retaining Business Basic grants and discounted alternatives.3
Google completed the Currents shutdown in 2023 and began deleting remaining data on August 8 that year.4
Three different changes: a community migration, a grant retirement, and a service shutdown.
Not one interchangeable scandal. One very practical lesson: the terms around an external dependency can change.
The fundraising rebrand that was not a shutdown
Classy became GoFundMe Pro in 2025. The company’s transition FAQ said existing plans, pricing, and fees did not change because of that transition.5
Call it a rebrand, not a killed product.
Then do the useful work: read your contract, distinguish platform fees from payment-processing fees, and find out what a donor-covered fee actually covers. A fee disclosed in a contract is not automatically hidden. It can still be a cost you should compare.
Buy the outcome, not the impressive feature list
At For Keeps, we want organizations to understand the whole operating model before committing.
That includes our model. Free learning materials. Paid implementation and optional premium work. Infrastructure and outside services with their own costs. Open-source licenses that still have conditions.
No mystery. No claim that maintenance performs itself.
Check the exit before you sign
- Request the annual total at your current size and your next growth milestone.
- List implementation, integrations, training, support, and exit work separately.
- Test an export with records, attachments, and relationships.
- Name the person responsible for administration and recovery.
A nonprofit discount can be useful.
So can declining it when the full system costs more than your mission can justify.
